INDUSTRIAL DESIGNS
The following are the requirements for filing an industrial design application with the Intellectual Property Office of Papua New Guinea, and should be filed in triplicate (3 copies) under the Patent and Industrial Designs Act 2000.
- The application (Form 5) must be completed in full with all relevant and applicable information are filled out correctly. The creator details are not catered for in the application. Therefore, those details should be provided on the covering letter.
- Representations, drawings or diagrams: If the design is 2-dimensional, the application must be accompanied by 4 graphical representations, drawings or tracings. If the design is 3-dimensional the application must be accompanied by 4 graphical representations, drawings or tracings of each of the different sides. The graphical representations must not exceed 10cm by 20cm and must be on card board/ A4 sheets of paper in black ink.
- Additional all pages should be numbered correctly and the text, drawing or diagrams must be legible so that they can be printed, photocopied, scanned or reproduced clearly.
- The filing fee is K300 and should be made payable to the Investment Promotion Authority in the form of a Bank Check.
- The following should be lodged together with the above or alternatively, within two months after the date of filing of the above documents.
- Statement Justifying the Applicant's Right. This applies if the applicant is other than the creator;
- Power of Attorney; and
- Deed of assignment, which is optional.
